R.E.A.L. Man Series

I see so many people stretch.  From athletes before a competition, to everyday citizens.  While everyone stretches in some capacity.  Have we gone overboard with all the stretching, yoga, etc... 

I believe it is time we look at why we think we need to stretch to keep our bodies "loose".  

I also discuss how often I stretch. So I can got outside to do my #earthstrong workouts.

In August 2021, Erwan became a U.S. National Record Holder in the static breath holding (STA) discipline of freediving. He held his breath for 6 minutes and 46 seconds, breaking the previous record set by someone much younger than him by 44 seconds. Erwan says, “I have to credit my MovNat background and 3 decades of Natural Movement lifestyle for having the experience and health necessary to keep growing and performing at this level. I intend to break this record soon. My goal is to keep inspiring people to live a healthy life.”

Who is to blame for the greatest disease know to man?  All you really have to do is look in the mirror.  Too many times we want to say someone is soft but when you look at yourself maybe you should think twice before calling someone else soft.

Coach Shreck is one of the best in the business.  His dedication to his craft and willingness to grow and learn is one of the reason he continues to do an incredible job at Bucknell. 

Jerry Shreck is the head strength and conditioning coach and fitness facilities coordinator at Bucknell. He joined the Bison staff in 2000 and after threeseasons as the athletic trainer for the Bucknell men's basketball team was appointed to his current role, coinciding with the opening of the sparkling 15,000-square-foot Krebs Family Fitness Center and Berger Family Weight Room.

A 1996 graduate of East Stroudsburg University with a degree in movement studies and exercise science, Shreck is charged with detailed daily strength and conditioning routines for each of Bucknell's athletic programs.

A native of Mongomery, Pa., Shreck is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the National Council of Strength and Fitness. He contributes to many strength and fitness websites and is a question and answer expert of several professional fitness forums. Shreck, whospeaks at numerous national strength and conditioning conferences each year,is an innovator of several training styles and is sought out by many professionals for his injury prevention techniques.

Under Shreck, the general philosophy of the Bison strength program is year-round periodization with a high-intensity base, supplemented with functional and sport-specific training. Training programs for most teams employ explosion techniques with power bands and plyometrics.

The ultimate goal of the strength and conditioning program is the prevention of injuries and training athletes to their peak physical condition.
